What level is right for me?

The following is an indication of the competencies expected to enroll in a particular level.  If in doubt please contact us to recommend which would be the most suitable level for you.

Spanish for Travellers
I am going to a Spanish speaking country and want to pick up some basics to help me get by: Enrol in Spanish for Travellers

Spanish for Beginners
Beg 1

The Spanish language is new to me: Enrol in Beginners 1

I can say and understand a few phrases that I learnt by self-study or by travelling in a Spanish speaking country: Enrol in Beginners 1

Beg 2

I can understand and use very basic familiar everyday expressions such as greetings. I can introduce myself and talk about personal information, as well as describe places: Enrol in Beginners 2

I have done at least 12 h of formal study: Enrol in Beginners 2

Beg 3

I can understand and use very basic familiar everyday expressions such as greetings. I can introduce myself and talk about personal information, as well as describe places, ask for and give directions, order at a restaurant, go shopping and talk about my daily routine: Enrol in Beginners 3 

I have done at least 24 h of formal study: Enrol in Beginners 3

Beg 4

I can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).  I can communicate in simple routine task requiring simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters: Enrol in Beginners 4

I have done at least 36 h of formal study: Enrol in Beginners 4

Spanish Lower Intermediate

I can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).  I can communicate in simple routine task requiring simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.  I can describe in simple terms aspects of my background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need, including talking about the past: Enrol in Lower Intermediate

Spanish Upper Intermediate

I can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work,, school, leisure, etc.  I can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling. I can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest.  I can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and give reasons or explanations for opinions: Enrol in Upper Intermediate
